Maintain Seniority

The employee maintains seniority as if he were still on the job every day. This seniority level includes eligibility for promotion, pay increases, and benefit increases like vacation time. While some of this support is mandated by federal law, some employers are more open about the issue. If an employee is promoted in absentia, the same recognition is given as if the employee were present.
