Customer Support

Retailers and service companies have some wonderful opportunities to show their appreciation for customers who have been called into military service. Restaurants could offer coupons or discounts. Hotels could offer a free or low-cost getaway week-end for the spouse and kids to relax away from home, splash in the pool, etc. Car dealerships or service stations could offer reductions in the cost of automotive maintenance, perhaps free oil changes. How about a free car wash each week? Driving a clean car feels better, and families of activated military reservists and National Guard will appreciation those “better feelings.”

Commonwealth Edison in Illinois took steps to assist all their customers within their service territory to provide assistance wherever the need should arise by creating the ComEd Helping Activated Military Personnel, or C.H.A.M.P. program. Due to the events of September 11th, there was a desire to do something to help Illinois residents/customers affected by the tragedy. (assist U.S. National Guard and Reservists called up for activity duty with their electrical bills) ComEd is also pursuing other utilities to join in the efforts. The need continues.
