Proclaim Support for Military Employees

There are a number of ways you can recognize your employees who serve our country through the military reserve and National Guard. Consider including all who serve, with some special recognition for those who have been activated. Those who have not been called to active duty are still serving and are always subject to deployment.

Some ideas:
Establish a Wall of Fame. In a well-traveled part of the company’s facilities, hang photos (with name and job function) of all employees who are members of the National Guard or active Reserve. You might also want to include spouses of employees, too, perhaps in a special section.

If you have a company newsletter, consider one or more feature stories. You could list the names of activated employees in each issue. “Remember our Friends.”

In some companies, banners are hung in prominent areas of each company facility recognizing, by name, all those individuals who were standing tall to preserve our freedoms.

You might want to purchase advertisements in your local newspaper listing—and maybe including photos—of your employees who are serving. This gesture could be saved until they return as a thank-you message

Employers can officially declare their support for the National Guard and Reserve in a formal way. By signing Statements of Support of the National Guard and Reserve, employers and political leaders demonstrate their support for their National Guard and Reserve employees, their commitment to Operation Enduring Freedom, and their resolve to bolster the defense of the United States.
