The spouse of the activated employee may need legal advice while the employee is away. These issues could range from questions about wills to traffic issues to problems negotiating with an insurance company after a property loss from a storm.

Company counsel may be of assistance to the employee and spouse directly, as appropriate. Or, alternatively, the company may pay at least part of the fees for the services of outside professionals. Sometimes just a little bit of support—understanding an insurance policy—can require very little time and be very comforting to an isolated spouse.
