Emirates to use Spotify and Facebook to recruit
Following the announcement this week that Dubai flag carrier, Emirates, is to create 4,000 new aviation jobs, more information has been revealed about the unconventional methods the airline is to turn to in order to find the right staff.
The airline has revealed that it is to post sound-bite-based adverts on the popular internet music streaming site, Spotify. Recruitment bosses at the airline have said that they are going down this avenue in a bid to capture the attention of potential employees who have high levels of technological sophistication.
The advert lasts no longer than 30 seconds, but matches songs with reasons to seek a job at Emirates, which was named Airline of the Year 2011 by Air Transport World. For example, the attractions of working and living in Dubai are accompanied by Black’s ‘Wonderful Life’, while the chance to work with the company’s multilingual and cosmopolitan staff is highlighted against the melody Sister Sledge’s ‘We are Family’.
An airline representative said they aimed to become the stand-out brand among airlines as an employer, in the same way the Apple Inc is in the computer world and Nike is among sports companies.
The company is thought to be devising advertisements to place on Facebook, following the Spotify campaign.
