Why make it even tougher on yourself?

Youd be surprised that many candidates disqualify themselves. Of course this isnt on purpose, but candidates disqualify themselves because of obsolete job search habits or simple mistakes.

Just about every candidate says Id never do that, but youd be surprised what a high percentage of candidates are making these errors.

Take a close look at your resume and the jobs youre applying for, to see how many of these deal-killing job search mistakes youre making:

  1. Dont meet all the listed requirements: When youre competing with 1,000 average competitors, the hiring manager will find plenty of applicants that meet all of the listed requirements.

IATA warns EU to work on safeguarding aviation jobs

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has appealed to the European Union to focus on building a competitive global aviation sector, in order to safeguard the thousands of aviation jobs it sustains across the continent.

The Director-General of the IATA, Tony Tyler made the appeal with specific reference to the EU’s emissions trading scheme and its reception around the world.

“At this critical time for European economies it is important that policies focus on measures that support economic growth and job creation, enhance competitiveness and support sustainable development,” said Tyler, who was addressing a meeting of the European Aviation Club.

Kent State professors snag $7 million to expand company

Kent Displays, a company founded by Kent State professors that produces a modern-day chalkboard called Boogie Boards, said today it has received $7 million in financing.

The capital, which includes $2 million in state loans and private investments, will be used to increase production of Boogie Boards and pad the company roster.

Kent Displays said it expects to hire 40 people to staff a second assembly line planned for the Boogie Boards.

The innovative Boogie Board allows users to write and erase messages on a screen the size of a sheet of paper.

You Receive Job Search Feedback – But Is It Reliable?

Job seekers are starved for feedback, to gain any guidance from employers they can get.

Its no wonder, since job seekers hear so much conflicting information about what works and what doesnt. Due to all of this conflicting information, job seekers are desperate for confirmation that they are using the right strategies and tactics.

But sadly, its impossible to get a whole lot of feedback. Its typical for job seekers to gain employer/recruiter feedback from only a fraction of 1% of the resumes sent.

Its human nature to follow the feedback we receive even if the feedback is from a fraction of 1% of our audience.

Southwest order to secure thousands of Boeing jobs

Thousands of aviation engineering and maintenance jobs are to be secured with Southwest Airlines’ order for 208 Boeing 737 jets, with a record-breaking list value of $19 billion.

The order – said to the be largest aircraft order ever – includes 150 of the fuel-efficient MAX models, which can reduce fuel consumption by an average of 12 per cent.

The Dallas-headquartered airline is expected to take deliveries of the first planes in 2017. The airline is already the world’s largest operator of Boeing 737 aircraft, but the new purchase will accelerate the company’s retirement of its older aircraft and the smaller Boeing 717s it took on when in bought out AirTran Holdings in May.
